Amelia Shipman
Temporal Illusion, 2020 Graphite, Pen, Marker & Colored Pencil on Paper
11 x 17
$650
This drawing is about the passage of time. The figure is shown as neutral or dark to represent a catalyst for change. It’s up to the viewer to decide if the time she weaves is seen as good or sinister. She wears an impassive angelic expression but a claw-like hand morphs from her hair and weaves the present moment from what will be to what has been. It represents how as we age, our decisions shape who we become. The bright yellow in the background of the figure engulfs her entirely as a reminder of good and light.

BIOGRAPHY
Amelia Shipman started painting at the age of 14 and met with success, showing and selling her work at art galleries across the midwest. Unfortunately, her passion was halted in part by an allergic condition that frequently prevented her from pursuing her calling. Her passion always manages to help her find a way to persevere and overcome. Her art is a unique mix of Abstract, Surrealistic, and Pop art. Her style is deeply symbolic, unconfined as well as distinctive.
