Feast & Famine: You Are What You Art
Feast on delectable artworks served up at a new Pop-Up ARTaurant cooking culinary allegories from a multicultural menu featuring painterly dishes by under-represented artist "chefs." A recent study has revealed that 85.4% of the works in the collections of all major US museums belong to white artists, and 87.4% are by men. Original artworks by under-represented artists challenge museum, gallery, and patron prejudiced palettes with representational inclusivity, debunking discriminatory mythos codes propagated in both art and culinary worlds as "discerning," "refined," and "matters of taste." Sincerity and satire are both afoot within the artworks and exhibition curation of "exotic" art dishes created in diverse styles and techniques, framed within both actual and manufactured cultural contexts. Patriarchal, xenophobic, racist, and sexist art institutions, don't beware. Be very ARTIST-ware. Finicky, exclusive, unadventurous art patron "eaters", don't be afraid. Be very ART-fraid.
